Directions to Services of
The Unitarian Universalist Church of Saint John
Held at the
545 Sandy Point Road
Saint John, New Brunswick
Canada, E2K 3S1

Phone (506) 650-7223

Access is off of Route 1, the main east-west highway across the south-western and south-central parts of the province of New Brunswick.

If you are coming from the east, you take the Crown Street / Rockwood Park Exit. The traffic light at the top of the exit ramp is about 2.1 km (1.3 miles) from the church taking the following route. Turn right at the traffic light. Follow Mount Pleasant Avenue as it curves past the entrance to Rockwood Park and keep going straight onto Hawthorne Avenue. Turn onto Sandy Point Road which is your 3rd opportunity to make a right turn since leaving the traffic light. Sandy Point Road then wiggles its winding way to our location at #545 opposite the Hazen White School.

If you are coming from the west, take the Somerset Street exit from highway 1 and follow the signs toward the Saint John Regional Hospital. The traffic light at the top of the exit ramp is about 4.9 km (3.0 miles) from the church if you take the following route. Turn left from the top of the exit ramp and follow Somerset street until you have reached the 4th traffic light AFTER the traffic light at the top of the exit ramp. Follow the signs to the hospital bearing right off of Somerset onto Sam Davis Drive which takes you up and over a hill toward the hospital. Once you are going downward from the peak of the hill watch for an opportunity to turn right (away from the hospital route) onto Sandy Point road. Follow Sandy Point road back to #545 which will be on your left opposite the Hazen White School.

The above map is deficient for not labelling the names of all streets. And in Saint John Street names tend to be very confusing because the same street often has different names on either side of an intersection.

Coming from the east, the street at right angles to the top of the exit ramp is called Crown Street on the left, and is called Mount Pleasant Avenue when it crosses the intersection. When you follow the traffic past the entrance to Rockwood Park, you go straight onto Hawthorne Avenue probably without realizing you have changed streets. If you wanted to stay on Mount Pleasant Avenue, you would have to make a left turn when Mount Pleasant turns into Hawthorne. Unfortunately Hawthorne Avenue is not labelled on the map.

Coming for the west, a potential point of confusion is that Sam Davis Drive is called Churchill Avenue on the west side of Somerset Street. Churchill Avenue is not labelled on the map. But there should be no confusion if you just follow signs to the hospital until you reach Sandy Point Road.
